I had the wonderful opportunity to speak on three different topics at the 2nd Annual Indiana Homesteading Conference at the Marion County Fairgrounds, October 21-22, 2023. It was encouraging to see so many people interested in becoming more self-sufficient and desire to take charge of their family’s food supply.
My first session was about Urban and Suburban Homesteading and just how productive it can be. On day two I talked about Rasing Coturnix Quail. I discussed just how easy of a livestock they are to care for and how they can be a significant source of food for your family. After that I did a presentation about Budget Friendly Hunting To Fill The Homestead Freezer. In this talk I discussed how to get started hunting, safety, where to hunt, and the breakdown of meat costs when you hunt.

I thought the event was great and while there were some areas that could be improved on, I think the organizers did a fantastic job and attendees were pleased with the inspiration and education they received.
By far the best part of the event for me was the connections made, the friends I got to hang out with, and the encouragement I received. I can’t wait for next year!
